ARCF Vent 5K Event Rules
These rules apply to all who are planning and executing a Vent 5K Event. Please ensure that all of these points are covered in your event.
- Course needs to be 5K in distance
can be multiple laps around a loop, out and back, all in a line, random, shopping mall circuit - Need to register a minimum of 5 pushers
no maximum number, but every pusher must push at some point—no minimum distance - Need to raise a minimum of $500
- For the purposes of this event, a “ventilator” can be any device used to support respiration (IPPB machines are included)
- Ventilator must be on wheels
wheels can be added, such as pole mounted vents
wheels may be modified from original - Ventilator may not have any means of propulsion other than pushing
- Cutoff date for each year will be November 1 for winners announced at the AARC’s International Respiratory Congress
- This is NOT a timed event
- The ARCF will award prizes in several categories

Media Look-Up
One important aspect of your Vent 5K Event is media. Use the provided press release template and send to your targeted media outlets in town. This link will provide you with major newspaper, radio, and TV stations in your locality.
Also consider identifying the local community weekly papers that would be happy to cover an event such as this. They may be your best fit for extensive coverage. We suggest you use a resource such as Switchboard.com to identify these local papers.
