John J. Marini, MD Receives the Forrest M. Bird Lifetime Achievement Award

The ARCF was pleased to present to Dr. John J. Marini with the prestigious Forrest M. Bird Lifetime Achievement Award during December’s ARCF awards ceremony. Dr. Marini, from St. Paul, MN, has been a member of the respiratory care profession since graduating from the University of Washington Respiratory Disease Division in the mid-1970s. He has served in an academic role and in a hospital appointment in various settings since 1978. Since 2001, he has served as the Director of Physiological and Translational Research. John has been a giant in clinical pulmonary physiology and has made enormous contributions to the science of respiratory care. He has also been a strong supporter of the respiratory care profession.

This award was established in 1983 to acknowledge outstanding individual scientific contributions in respiratory care with a grant from Dr. Forrest M. Bird, an innovator in respiratory care research and development and a member of the National Inventor’s Hall of Fame.
